Travel Tuesday - Not!

Good evening! Or good morning (if you're reading this on Wednesday). I totally meant to get a Travel Tuesday post up today--I have some good ideas floating around in my head based on my weekend last weekend--but it just isn't going to happen today . . . Tuesday.

Instead, I thought I'd invite you into our dinner conversation from tonight. We sat around the table, eating a delicious dinner (if I do say so myself) of pork chops, broccoli, baked potatoes, and homemade cinnamon rolls, and reminiscing about the things the girls used to say when they were younger.

Things like "trash can't."

"Temperware."

"Little Bow Pete."

And, one of my personal favorites, "I can't do this; it's too EASY." (One of my girls, who shall remain nameless, had this little mental block about her adjectives and adverbs. She used to say the opposite of what she meant, much to the hilarity of the rest of us. Thankfully she grew out of that one.)

So dinner tonight was fun. We laughed so hard at some of the adorable things kids say. Even the kids who Abby babysits say cute, funny things. We know. She shared. Their mom would laugh, too.

And then I read the absolute best blog post about the things kids say. Go read it. You'll be touched.

  1. There is nothing like eating and laughing together. We got to do it this past weekend with all of our kids home.

And I love that post of mama's. I have read that before but it still makes me smile.

  3. That's so funny that your kids said "trash can't", Jonah says that, too! He also says, "Yes we can't!" (Jon particularly likes that one as it relates to the Obama campaign slogan.)

  4. Too funny. I have to write the stuff down quickly before the sayings dart out of my head!

  5. Back when daddy was in the navy reserve and gone a lot we caught one of our kids praying, "Give us this day our navy bread".

  7. Katherine came home one day from school and told me she had the best lunch - karaoke chicken salad; i believe she meant teriyaki chicken salad. Now when i see it posted on the menu schedule i can't help but call attention to it and i'm sure to get an 'Oh, Mom!'.

  8. Remember the time one of your girls stayed at our house for five days? At dinner that night she prayed, "Thank you, Jesus, that I can go home!" She still says some pretty funny stuff!

  11. As I was thinking about it last night I remembered when I used to babysit your girls and we would pray together before bed. Kate's prayer would always end with, "And help there not be a fire or tornado. Amen" She said it so fast and so habitually like an adult might pray, "In Jesus name." I always thought it was funny.
