Royal Wedding Party

Good morning! Come on in!

Grab a tiara and a Royal Wedding Bingo card.

How about a spot of tea?

The food is ready.

Especially the yummy scones Kate made. (My Kate, not that Kate--she was a little busy this morning.)

We have cucumber sandwiches too.

I told you we'd be having a party, and party we did. At 4:30 this morning, 12 college girls descended on my house to watch "the wedding of the century" according to news reports.

Check out these girls' faces as Kate came walking down the aisle. I'll admit, she was a bit mesmerizing.

Here's Princess Abby. Isn't she cute?

All of these girls are adorable, and they had so much fun this morning dreaming of their own "weddings of the century." By the way, I told them they had to speak in a fake British accents and wear their tiaras all day today. I actually think a couple of them might just do that.

Finally the big moment arrived. Wills and Kate kiss on the balcony. How cute are they??!!

The girls swooned.

And then they fell asleep.

  1. What fun, what fun! Several of my friends (including my dear friend who graduated from Wheaton just a few years after you) gathered for a party this morning. I didn't feel like I should leave Jack alone to get Lee off to school, so I stayed home. Jack set the DVR last night, and we figured we'd watch the wedding together after Lee left at 7:30. And guess what? THE DVR DIDN'T WORK. Can you imagine? I got to see the recessional and the kiss live, but otherwise I haven't seen anything except for a few snippets! I'm trying to find someplace online that might have the whole thing for me to watch. Ugh!

I'm so glad you had a party. What a wonderful memory for all those girls--and for you! :)

  2. That is such a great idea! I had to party by myself (well, with my kids who are home) when I woke up this morning. But I did drink tea and have some lemon curd on toast, while watching the footage on BBC. It was so fun, I even posted about it :). Hope you have a great day!

  3. That sounds like so much fun. I can't wait for the next royal wedding so I can get my friends together......of course we will all be old.

  4. I'm at a conference, so I have barely seen anything with the royal wedding. But I was talking with my friend this afternoon about what kind of parent I want to be, what kind of relationship I want to have with my kids, and what a great example you are to me. (And how I really want you to write a book!!)

Then I happened to pull up your post. I turned my laptop around and showed her. She agreed and said, "YES. THIS is what we want." :)

  5. Such fun, Shelly. I liked your idea of adding the engagement picture to the tiaras. I love college age girls. Such a fun memory you have created for them.

    Fondly,
    Glenda
